Their Story

Ben and Siu have been together for 20 years and married for 12. Gaming has always been part of their lives – from family Mario Kart tournaments to late-night gaming sessions. But the more they became immersed in the gaming world, the more they realised that eye health in gaming isn’t talked about enough. Siu saw the issue from an optical perspective, Ben from a gamer’s. Together they knew they had the expertise and the drive to make a real difference.

And so, XP-Pro Eyewear was born.

With Siu’s deep knowledge of optics and Ben’s expertise in user experience and gaming, they set out to create a product that would change the way gamers see the world... literally.

  • Siu’s Story

Before entering the world of optics, Siu built a career in PR and marketing for the fashion industry. As a glasses wearer with a passion for style, Siu launched an online magazine looking at the latest eyewear trends.

This soon led to a 15 year career in optical journalism, covering everything from cutting-edge frame designs to the science of vision. Over time, she developed a deep appreciation for eye health - something that became even more personal after becoming a mother, especially in an increasingly digital world.

Today, screens dominate our lives, from work to play and Siu became increasingly aware of a glaring issue - eye health is often overlooked, even though vision is one of our most vital senses. She knew something had to change.

  • Ben’s Story

For over 30 years, gaming has been more than a hobby for Ben – it’s been a passion, a skill and a way of life. From his early days on the Atari XEGS (which he still owns!) to once ranking in the top 0.5% of Call of Duty online multiplayer players worldwide, he has lived and breathed gaming. But for Ben, the real magic lies in immersive games like the Cyberpunk 2077, Uncharted franchise, Red Dead Redemption and Fallout 4, where every decision shapes the narrative and outcome of the game.

Beyond gaming, Ben's expertise lies in SaaS product management, engineering and shaping the user experience. He began his career as a web developer and information architect, founding innovative projects and providing specialist services and support across multiple industries to help end-users achieve their goals. But one problem kept surfacing - prolonged screen time takes a serious toll on the eyes. Ben knew it firsthand. Long gaming sessions and work marathons left him with dry, strained and tired eyes. And he wasn’t alone.
